Ukiyo is a rather impetuous urban culture that has bloomed in popularity. Although the Japanese were more strict and had many prohibitions it did not affect the rising merchant class and therefore became a floating art form that did not bind itself to the normal ideals of society.

People that chose Ukiyo-e art tend to be more simplistic yet elegant. They don't care much about new style but are comfortable in creating their own. They like the idea of living for the moment and enjoy giving and receiving pleasure. They may be more agreeable than other people and do not like to argue. They do not mind following traditions but are not afraid to move forward to experience other ideas in life. They tend to enjoy nature and the outdoors. They do not mind being more adventurous in their sexual experiences. They enjoy being popular and like being noticed. They have their own unique style of dress and of presenting themselves. They may also tend to be more business oriented or at the very least interested in money making adventures. They might make good entrepreneurs. They are progressive and adaptable.

Take What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test at HelloQuizzy

Fall Weather

Let's hear it for mid-50's and supposedly it got down to 38 the other night. Fall is here with a goddamn bitchslap, yo.

Not much to say, aside from family drama going on, but that's about par for the course. Think I might be getting a little sick, but I hope to fight that off. Sunday should be Mom's bday dinner, with above annoying relatives, but that should pan out to be okay. Been reading more, which is always a happy thing. Got a nasty charlie-horse in my back last night which kept me up for hours. That I was not so pleased about. Got to see some friends a while back, always fun. The cars are going to cost us another $1500 total, once the bill for the truck is totalled and we get new brakes on the toyota. Sucktastic, yo. But I need new brakes for that car before the ice and snow decide to invade. You can really feel fall on the air, now.

Not much of anything else. Been listening to more indie bands and whatnot. 107.7 keeps playing The Airborne Toxic Event which are pretty good. Keeping up with what's new is a first for me..I'm usually years behind on what's playing on the radio, since the majority of what I listen to is on the classical stations. So, that's pretty cool. Not much else to report. Gonna get a cuppa and close the window in the kitchen. It's getting bloody cold up here!

Because I am that bored...

A Quiz!

Your result for Which Chess Piece are You Test?...

The Queen's Rook

The Queen’s Rook is a pensive, analytical individual. They don’t mind spending long periods of time on their own to work through problems. They may venture so far into thought they appear vacant or detached; often they really are oblivious of the world at that moment. These wayward princes are precise about descriptions and by habit correct others (or feel sorely tempted) if the shade of meaning is slightly off. This is annoying to the less concise, but this is what gives the Queen’s Rook a gift for gab, especially in writing.

This Rook is relatively easy going until their principles of truth, knowledge and justice are violated. Because of this they hate the formalities of bureaucracy, politics, and authority – which tend to mask the truth of operations. They will respond with a flip of the switch and become outspoken and inflexible. They will eventually drop the issue, because they do prefer a reserved and benign ambiance. The problem with the Queen’s Rook is when they are debating a point; they may be convincing themselves as much as their opponent. They spend a considerable amount of time second-guessing their abilities and may come to multiple conclusions that offer plausible solutions.

An indicator that a friend may be a Queen’s Rook is an obsession with logic. If a mistake is made, it is because there wasn’t enough data or it was placed out of context. Another indicator you’re friend is a Rook, throw a strategy game at them. They enjoy Risk, Bridge, Chess, and word games. Never rush the Rook. They don’t draw conclusions very quickly. If one were to gather a bunch of Rooks together to form a group they may debate:

1.) Whether or not there should be a group.

2.) Exactly what name should the proposed group choose?

3.) Which of the persons in the group should take responsibility or should they rotate?

Take Which Chess Piece are You Test? at HelloQuizzy

Lunar eclipse

Frank and I just watched the lunar eclipse out our bedroom window. We had a perfect sight, it was up about fourty five degrees, just over the far condo complex and between two towering evergreens. Simply amazing. We've got the blinds to the computer room up and we're watching it now as we putter around in eq - but watching it fade to greyish black - now that was fucking COOL.

MEME

From the friends-list:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.

Of soul or sword -

That's kinda cool, yo.

(The book is the Collected works of Emily Dickinson. Full poem is as goes:

Garlands for Queens, may be -
Laurels - for rare degree
Of soul or sword -
Ah - but remembering me -
Ah - but remembering thee -
Nature in chivalry -
Nature in charity -
Nature in equity -
The Rose ordained!

I am, actually, alive

I am, actually, alive. I just haven't been on the internet with the computer that I normally post stuff at. I tend to multitask while playing video games, so I'd be playing one on the main computer and cruising LJ and myspace with the other. Since the laptop when BOOM weeks ago, - well, not BOOM but the keyboard stopped working - I haven't really thought about posting, since I haven't been playing much either.

I digress. I have this idea that's eating my brain. It's driving me mad. And I can't stop thinking about it. But alas, such is the world.

And Rai, if you read this, I saw your twin today, driving a black pick up truck near the grocery store we go to. Totally weird, which was why I headed this way to post that yes, I am alive and all that good noise.

Anyhow, news from the great PNW is...boring? We went to the SAM - the Seattle Art Museam - last saturday to celebrate our third wedding anniversary.good gods has it been three years already? It was fun, if tiring. We went to eat at this great place near the waterfront: it's called the Owl and Thistle and people they had shepherd's pie, guiness beef stew, steak, and hummas and yeah. I'm totally going back. It's more of a pub than a bar or restaurant. But it was really, really good. And they were playing Pearl Jam the entire time. Too funny.

I know there's a wedding in the wind, and Miss I do mean to call you when I can get my brain back from this insane idea. I miss lots of people in SB, I miss Hot Spots and gosh darn it I miss a good italian place to go eat at since there isn't any here on this side of the sound. At all. Good ones, I mean. We've found a host of bad to meh ones. But nothing like Patrini's or Paoli's or...you get the picture.

Ah what else...we ended up getting a small crockpot and food processor from my parents as anniversary gifts. Don't look at me. But the crockpot was nice, since our other one is made for a family of twelve. It's massive. I never use it. But the little one is for two to three people, which helps. And goddamit there I go again sounding all domestic. /facepalm. I need to go buy a bottle of vodka and steal streetsigns or something. If it wasn't so hot. Or annoying to be outside. Or...

Aw fuck it. I give up. I'm going back to the insane idea in my head. It's much more interesting than trying to move in this heat.

Right, so I hear a cuppa tea calling my name. Ta.

I live

I am tired. I am exhausted. But I am alive, taxes are paid, other bills are paid, we have food in the house and bizarrely, I like liver and onions.

It's been a hell of a week. Really. I'm tired.

And I hate the IRS.

/yawn.

Goodnight.

A TV!

We got my parent's old fixed TV for the computer room. Dad wanted a plasma thing for the new house, and my mother wasn't about to put the old thing in the trash, since they'd repaired it, so we took it off their hands. We need a splitter for the back room so we can get cable, but yay! A way to play EQ and watch TV at the same time!

Oh man are we lazy. hahahahaha

Ooohhhh we're looking forward to Battlestar tonight. I'm still pissed about Starbuck, but I have my delusional hopes. Dresden is pretty cool, but I've also found that Lifetime, of all channels, is doing their own TV version of the Vicky Nelson files. A show called Blood Ties, which is based off Tanya Huff's vampire novels, all of which I have. It shows at the same time Dresden does. We're at quite a quandry we are. Not sure how good it is, but I'm willing to give it a spin. We'll see.

Not much else...bought enough food to fill the house for two weeks or more. Let F talk me into getting brown rice for some meals. I'm not so sure about it, but we'll find out how it is. Picked up some steaks, and are they good. F gets to cook them, since I don't particularly like handling meat that isn't chicken and I'll be dead in a casket if we ever have pork that's not bacon strips cooked in my kitchen. I hate pork with a passion. Too many years of having to eat my mother's version of pork chops, and having to salt the meat so much it made my liver wince just to eat it. But meh. Such is life. We don't like it no we don't precious.

So yeah. That and reading a lot. CJ Cherryh, her Foreigner books. Good stuff. Forgot how much I liked the characters and the world. Found out I'm missing the two latest books from her and that there's another three in contract. Ohh we are happy, yes we are.

Right, tired and about to eat steak now. Ta.
